Where Dogs Come to Have a Great Time!

Lost Dogs

The K9 Rec Center works with the Frederick Police Department when lost dogs are picked up. We provide shelter  and care for the dog while efforts to contact the owner is ongoing. In the unhappy event where the owner cannot be located, we will assist in the adoption of the dog by a new owner.

Lost and Found at K9 Rec Center

Lost a Dog?

When you come to retrieve your dog , please bring the following items with you:

  • A leash & collar or transport carrier, so your pet may be escorted home safely.
  • A government issued photo ID, such as a drivers license.
  • Proof of ownership – This may include veterinary records, boarding records, grooming records, a city license, or even a photograph of you and your pet.
  • An appropriate method of payment for impound fees – We accept checks, cash, credit/debit cards

Colorado state law requires an animal be held for a period of 5 days after which time the animal legally belongs to K9 Rec Center if not reclaimed. This is why it is also important to check our adoption page, as your pet may already be available for adoption.

In the event your pet is here at K9, you will be required to pay impound fees to reclaim. Fees can vary greatly depending upon how long your animal has been here.

To reclaim your dog, we have the following fees:

  • Day 1 – $75 fee
  • Day 2+ – $75 fee plus $25 per night boarding fee

To surrender your dog, please call our office for more details. There is also a fee of $100 associated with this service.
